Attention TFS Families:
It was discussed and determined at last night's school board meeting that school will not be held next Monday and Tuesday. The reason for the cancellation is out of the safety of staff, students, and community members due to the rise and impact of COVID cases in our community. This long break will also allow for a deep clean of our building.
So to clarify, there will be no school next week, November 23-27.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The Three Forks Middle School Book Club enjoyed a visit to a new local business, Book Therapy and Moore. Owner Jody Moore gave the group a tour of various book sections and reading areas. Students had the opportunity to read by the fire, purchase books, and browse the impressive selection of local artwork, gifts, and delicious baked goods. The club also visited Legacy Tradings next door, owned by retired Three Forks teacher, Pam Carey, who also features merchandise by locals and a selection of books about Montana. Good morning Three Forks Family! As we have said since the onset of COVID, things are changing rapidly, impacting decisions, plans, and practices. Evidence of this occurred yesterday as Governor Bullock made an announcement extending his statewide mandate to now include face coverings required for all K-12 students, with the exception of those who have health conditions.
With this being said, Three Forks Schools will follow this mandate and require all students K-12 to wear masks in school. Please read the article below for more details. If you do have questions about this update please contact the school at 285-6830.
https://helenair.com/news/state-and-regional/govt-and-politics/bullock-masks-to-be-mandatory-in-k-12-schools/article_677fce7f-121f-5a01-96bf-4792a1411c8f.html

Good morning Three Forks Schools family!
To begin, thank you for the patience as we roll out our plan to start 2020-2021. The District appreciates your flexibility and understanding.
On Monday the District did send out a form for parents to complete in order to provide some valuable information for the school regarding your plans for this fall. Thank you to those that have taken the time to submit this form. We understand that families are confronted with a difficult decision and sometimes difficult decisions do take time.
If you have not completed the form, please do as soon as your family is able to make an educated decision. The sooner the information rolls in, the sooner the District can start building rosters and notifying parents of class placements, etc.

Congratulations to the following MS/HS students who were nominated for the 3rd Quarter's Student of the Quarter!
HS: Anthony Deriana, Tayla Moeykens, Jayden Woodland, Macey Combs, Katie Kotter, Chris Fullerton, Sam Schade, Hannah Delaittre, Bailey Partain, Kalli Miller
MS: Jace Wiseman, Sawyer Marx, Cherish Allen, Abbey Tallman, Trevor Davis, Claire Cutler, Alyssa Golding, Sarah Raffety, Lee Anna Gonsalves
Winners: Macey Combs and Trevor Davis
Teachers had this to say about Macey: Macey has been an unbelievable part of our school for many years, but I think she often gets overlooked for the things she routinely does. Whether it be the morning announcements everyday, her role as student body president, announcing at the assemblies or even helping with the instagram scavenger hunts for the “coin”, Macey plays a large role in the day to day activities at Three Forks. Through all of this, she does get some recognition, but often I hear students just whine and complain about student council not doing this or student council not doing that, well Macey, I say Thank You for all you do! You stepped up and took on this role and I think you do a fantastic job.
Teachers had this to say about Trevor: Trevor is a very diligent and hardworking student who really strives to do well. I appreciate his positive attitude, coming into class every day ready to go and working steadily until the bell rings. Thank you, Trevor!
*Student's who were nominated are welcome to come get there certificate from the main office and learn what nice things teachers are saying about you!

As you probably are aware Three Forks School staff have been working hard this week to get in touch with parents to discuss distance learning and how it will look for your child. Staff members are struggling to connect with all parents. With that being said, we need your help! If you have recently updated your contact information, mailing address, or email, please call the office and notify them of these changes. At times like this it is crucial that we have up-to-date information for effective communication.

Three Forks Board Meeting UPdate
https://docs.google.com/document/d/12o8nzVAZm2EfjndNXr91Q-VufW1AQ9EkLns6CF6IwXg/edit#

TFSD March School Board Meeting
The regularly scheduled school board meeting for Three Forks schools. will still take place, however it will be closed to the public. We will live stream the meeting on the school's Facebook page for those wanting to watch.

Due to Governor Bullock’s recent declaration of statewide school closure , the emergency school board meeting for Three Forks Schools is cancelled.

Gov. Steve Bullock orders two week closure of public K-12 schools

Three Forks Schools will be closed for two weeks as declared by the governor.

As of Monday, March 16, Three Forks School District will continue to operate on the regular school schedule. All school extracurricular activities (school-based activities that take place before or after school hours) will continue until advised otherwise. The District understands the concerns of the COVID-19 virus and the cases that are being confirmed in Montana. With this in mind the TF Board of Trustees will be meeting Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. to discuss the possibility of school closures and educational planning if in fact schools are closed. The District may also get notification from the Gallatin County Health Department or the Governor of forced closures. If and when this does occur, parents and staff will be notified.
With school continuing tomorrow, Monday, March 16th, the District does want to take preventative precautions. We are urging families to make proactive decisions on sending students to school. If your child or a family member is sick, please keep your child at home and notify the office of your intentions. If your child has a complicated illness or immune deficiency that puts them at risk, we encourage you to keep them at home. We know that this situation is very fluid, with updates hourly. As the District gains any information that may impact staff or students of TFS, this will be shared with all stakeholders.
Thank you

We were greeted this morning with a ceiling tile destroyed and another leak from the aging heating system in the elementary school. The piping from the boiler system is the original piping (1974), which is showing its age, causing leaks in each of the last 3 years. Did you know that approximately $16 million dollars from the upcoming bond will go towards fixing this issue?

Classes for the spring course will run 11 weeks beginning with the required parent meeting on March 16th. Class will be held Monday-Thursday 7-8:15 am with driving after school and on Saturdays. Drives will be rescheduled if weather makes the roads dangerous.
The summer course will run over 7 weeks beginning June 8th with classes and drives running Monday-Friday most weeks. There is one Saturday class June 13. The required parent meeting will be held May 20th and there will be no class the week of June 28th-July 4th. Mr. Lauver will be teaching class and doing drives for the week of July 12-18.
Any student who is 14½-years-old on or before the first day of class is eligible to take the class. However, priority will be given to older students.
Schedules are available in the high school office or email Heidi Donnelly for a copy. If you would like your student to take the class, please call the school or sign up on the interest sheet at the high school office by the end of the day on Tuesday, February 18. Just a reminder that the Junior High Boys Basketball against Manhattan Christian has been switched to this Wednesday, February 5. We hope to see a packed house!

Why do we NEED this building bond?
We have 3 schools within our campus that all have different needs. The focus of this project from the beginning has revolved around three components; safety, space, and infrastructure. Each of these components were taken into consideration for each individual school (elem., MS, and HS).
This post will focus on space.
-The current TF campus was not built to accommodate the increasing student population of approximately 740 students (avg. rate of 6% each year). This results in overcrowded classrooms throughout the K-12 District, negatively impacting the educational experience.
-The existing blueprint for the HS is not designed for the current student population, resulting in overcrowded and unsafe hallways during peak traffic times.
-The District campus contains three different schools (elem, MS, HS) that are forced to share spaces, resulting in course offerings being cut and less educational opportunities for K-12 students.
-To temporarily address the lack of space, portable classrooms will be used. The result is an inadequate space/environment for teaching and learning.
To learn more please check out the District website http://threeforksmt.apptegy.us/o/three-forks-schools.
If you have questions you can contact the school office at 285-6830, or by emailing Superintendent Jeff Elliott at jelliott@threeforks.k12.mt.us

Student of the quarter nominations: Hadley Fallang, Mikayla Lear, Zaida Bertrand, Cahal McDonald, Kate’s Flaglet, Katie Kotter, Peyton Page, Jayden Woodland

Just a reminder that there will be a Public Facilities Committee Meeting this afternoon on January 29th at 4:30 p.m. in the High School Library. All community members are welcome to attend.

The Speech & Drama team competed at the divisional tournament on Saturday, placing as champion in Speech with a score of 131-129, remaining undefeated in Class B Speech for the season going into the state tournament, by defeating the team who holds a 35 state championship streak. The team qualified 36 students for the state tournament, which is the most that Three Forks has qualified in the past 10 years. Kalli Miller & Ally Kamps won individual championships. Finn Hanson, Kevin Richards, Lexi Welch, and Hannah Rumelhart placed as runners-up. Also placing in the top four were Dean Buchholz, Aden Lehr, Hannah Wilson, Grace Donnelly, Bailey Partain, Dru Bolender, Lilly Lindquist, Michael Boyd, and Ethan Heagar.

You’re invited! If you’ve been wondering why we are looking to renovate and improve our schools, we invite you to come to the next Public Facilities Committee Meeting. This meeting will take place on January 29 at 4:30 p.m. in the High School Library. Call us at 285-6830 if you can’t attend and would like more information about the potential bond.

Three Forks School District has put together a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) directed towards the upcoming spring bond election. We will share the answers to these questions in the weeks leading up to the May 5th election date. If clarification is needed for any of these postings, please feel free to reach out to the District Office @ 285-6830.
*Why does the Three Forks School District NEED this building bond?
We have 3 schools within our campus that all have different needs. The focus of this project from the beginning has revolved around three components; safety, space, and infrastructure. Each of these components were taken into consideration for each individual school (elem., MS, and HS).
Below is a listing of safety items that would be addressed through the passing of the spring bond.
-The electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems are outdated and failing throughout many portions of the campus.
-Fire suppression systems do NOT exist throughout the entire campus, thus creating a major safety concern that needs to be addressed.
-Three Forks High School was built in 1952 and is currently obsolete, requiring desperate improvements.
-To improve security and keep our students and staff safe, campus entrances would be reconfigured so that all traffic will funnel through the controlled offices during the school day.
-The school bus loading/unloading zone will be relocated to a single (bus-only) lane to the north of campus. This will be a controlled, safe area for students to board/un-board buses.
-The parent drop off area for elementary students will be relocated to the NE corner of campus, allowing for a more controlled area, while also reducing the congestion on East Neal. This would also allow for increased safety for students to walk to the playground or cafeteria prior to the start of school.
-The School Board of Trustees has voted to purchase/lease portable classrooms that will be located outside of the main buildings. With these classrooms being outside of the main campus buildings, increased safety concerns do arise.

Amazing Community
We just received an anonymous donation of $260 for our After School Program! We are so grateful for this!

Just an FYI for all Three Forks families, Three Forks Schools will be running all buses and full bus routes this afternoon. Thank you.
