*Thursday, May 29th at 7pm in the Auditorium we will be honoring our Seniors with our second Senior Awards Night. At this time, we will award all of our Honors Diploma recipients, award our National Honors Society scholarship recipients, as well as award numerous scholarships that our Seniors have earned over the last year. Lastly, our Three Forks Education Foundation will award all of their scholarships to numerous graduating seniors this year by our local businesses and supporters. All Seniors and their families are invited to attend this awards night.

Summer is almost here, which means it is time to start thinking about fair season! Three Three Forks FFA members attended the Braaten Show Pigs Bootcamp this weekend. Heidi Hutchison, Kaydence Jensen, and Griffin Jensen spent the day learning about showmanship, feed, and general care of their livestock projects, so that they can provide a quality product for you to bid on this summer!

Wolves Track and Field finished State Championships strong Saturday with more all state athletes! Overall, the girls team took 7th, and the boys team took 10th. Kylie Rowan takes 2nd in Shot Put
Cass Violett takes 3rd in the 1600m, breaking a school record that had stood since 1979.
The girls 4x400 relay consisting of Maya Noble, Julia Kotter, Maddie Tesoro, and Hailey Williams takes 5th.
Maya Noble takes 5th in the 100m dash.
Brady Olson takes 3rd in the Triple Jump.
Kanon Reichman takes 6th in the 110M Hurdles.
What a fantastic season wolves!!
On Friday the drivers education class got to experience both a school bus and snow plows from a bus and plow drivers' perspecive. Craig brought in a school bus (sorry Craig, I didn't get any photos) and Ace and Chad came with a couple snow plows.
Here is a list of what we learned:
1. The 6' arm with the flashing stop sign was mandated by law in 2021 because a then-six-year-old was hit after getting off the school bus in Whitefish in 2019.
2. Snow plow drivers need to go 35 mph or under while sanding because if they go faster, the sand just flies off the road and is wasted.
3. Yes, they want you to follow at a distance (about 200 feet), but they also want you to drive on the freshly sanded road behind them so you are helping their sand stay on the road and do its job. And if you do that, they might even give you extra sand because they appreciate you.
4. The local-to-Three Forks plows are responsible for 600 lane-miles of road. When it is snowing, they plow in 12-hour shifts, day and night.
5. One of our local drivers was a Montana Trooper for 20 years and during that time was only hit once in his patrol car. Since he started plowing (for significantly less than 20 years), he has been hit twice.
6. If you hit his plow AND the guard rail, he is going to be double frustrated with you because now his plow is probably needing repair AND he also has to fix the guard rail since that is also their responsibility.
7. If you get too close and irritate them, you could get sand-blasted. Literally.
8. The local MTDT maintenance station is fully staffed and recently got a new tow plow. It has been dubbed Elizabeth. Only Chad names his plows. Ace does not.
9. They really are just trying to make your life safer, not just driving slowly down the road because they are being entitled jerks, so don't crowd the plow. We live in Montana. People understand that sometimes snow delays or even cancels plans. Being patient will keep you and everyone else safe and alive. Help them do their job. They are good at it.
Day 1 of state complete! We end day 1 with two State Runner Up finishers with Cass Violett in the 3200, and Maya Noble in the Pole Vault. Way to go wolves!

A little learning outside of the classroom! The Three Forks Horticulture Class took a trip to do some landscaping, learned about tree planting, did a little farm work, and was a great bunch of workers!
The 3rd Annual Three Forks FFA Ag Days was a great success! We loved the opportunity to share about Agriculture in Gallatin County with our elementary students! We loved doing this event, and hope to do it again next year.

A very large THANK YOU to Mark Bassett and the Montana Masonic Foundation (MMF) for selecting Three Forks as the recipient of their annual grant program. "The Montana Masonic Foundation's (MMF's) Educational Grant Program is designed to provide teachers, student aides, and principals in Montana's public schools an opportunity to apply for a grant to assist under-funded programs in the following areas: Music, Drama, Science, and Library." The generous donation Mark hand-delivered will be used in further developing the outdoor learning spaces our PreK-12 campus has in an effort to boost scientific exploration as well as grown and landscape garden spaces for reading and class discussions/performances.

Courtyard Update. Garden has been planted. The last of the gravel was moved into the seating area for the seating area for the "Littles".Thank you to GCC for the gravel, Three Forks Lumber and Ready Mix for the black plastic, Montana Farmers Union Foundation for the garden beds and shed, Donors Choose for the tools and seating.
Indigenous Foods Unit in Culinary Arts II. we have made Bannock, Three Sisters Soup, and will be making Berry Pudding next week.
