Congratulations to Accounting I students Lauren Welch, Christopher Fullerton and Teagin Walker for taking first place in their Industry during the Fall 2021 Montana Council for Economic Education’s (MCEE) Big Sky Biz Sim competition. The simulation, sponsored by First Interstate Bank (FIB), is an in-class business simulation where students make all of the operating decisions for their business to produce, sell and distribute 'widgets'. Over 250 teams, in grades 9 though 12, from Class C through Class AA schools, competed in the fall simulation.
The winning Three Forks trio chose to spend their winnings on donuts from The Shoppe Coffeehouse and Bakery for the entirety of Mrs. Oehmcke's Accounting class!
Special thanks are extended to organizer Dax Schiffler of the MCEE, Brittani Hissom of FIB and to all students/teachers statewide for their weekly dedication to the program.
Across the state of Montana, the following teams were listed as overall competition winners:
First Place: Sidney High School - Teacher Russel Biniek
Second Place: Heritage Christian, Bozeman - Teacher Wayne Tofslie
Third Place: Melstone High School - Teacher - Tamaira Wacker
Industry Winners Included: Helena High School (Samantha Humphrey), Columbus High School (Susan Deming), Glacier High School (Josh Munro), Three Forks Schools (Jessica Oehmcke), Twin Bridges High School (Jody Sandru), Skyview High School (Kurt Wohler), and Bozeman High School (Tanner Curey)
