🏀 Little Wolves Basketball – Coaches Needed for 5th & 6th Grade 🏀

We are looking for additional coaches to help support our 5th and 6th grade Little Wolves Basketball teams. Due to the high level of interest from students, we need more coaches to ensure a safe, organized, and positive experience for everyone.

If you are willing and able to help coach, please reach out to Mr. Fanning or myself (asenenfelder@threeforks.k12.mt.us) by this Thursday, December 18th.

Thank you for your continued support of Little Wolves Basketball! 🐺🏀

Recently, Mrs. Felz and Mrs. Oehmcke combined forces for a CTE Industry and Career Day. Thanks to itinerary planner, Rich Ward, students were able to experience a full tour of the HRDC’s programs and the many ways they serve our communities as well as an insider look at what YES Compost does. The day began at Housing First Village with an honest look at the housing crisis, high-barrier sheltering, and chronic homelessness. At Wheat Suites, students learned about non-congregate housing, family transitions, and long-term support. Shifting gears, we headed to Market Place where the kids were introduced to Blueprint and the services available for local youth as well as a tour of Fork & Spoon, the warehouse, and the food bank. Our Three Forks students were put to work and helped sort canned goods. The morning wrapped up at Homeward Point with a guiding group through the shelter, congregate housing and emergency quarters, sharing about career and volunteer opportunities.

After picking up a quick lunch to eat on the road at Jimmy Johns, Karl Johnson, the owner of YES Compost in Belgrade, discussed how organic waste is collected from area homes and businesses, and what happens to that waste once it arrives at the compost facility. He explained the science of composting, including decomposition, temperature control, and how microorganisms break down food scraps into usable soil. During the tour, students walked through different areas of the facility to observe compost piles at various stages of the process, including the vermi-composting greenhouse, heated solely from the temperatures found within the composting piles, year round.

Thirty years ago the Magris Tournament was started in Three Forks shortly after Coach Mike Sauvageau was hired by his alma mater here at Three Forks Schools. He then accepted the Head Boys Basketball position and a couple years later also accepted the Head Girls Basketball position.

In his second year in Three Forks, Coach Sauvageau led the formation of the Luzenac Tip Off Tourney which eventually became our Magris Tourney today. Coach Sauvageau was instrumental in starting and leading this tournament, leading this annual event for many years.

Throughout his time in Three Forks, he won many Conference Championships and he led 12 different teams into the State B Tournament highlighted by his 2001 Boys State Championship team and his 2018 undefeated State Champion Girls team. Coach Sauvageau was inducted into the Montana Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017 for his successful years of leadership as both a coach and athletic director.

Over the years, this tournament has brought many of the best Class B and C basketball programs to the Three Forks community.
This long standing tradition has been a great start to the basketball season here in Southwest Montana. We greatly appreciate the financial support that the Magris Talc has provided to the Three Forks Schools & Community and we are hopeful for many more years of this partnership.

Thank you to Magris Talc and Coach Sauvageau.

Are you looking for a way to support our Three Forks Schools? The Education Tax Donation allows you to designate where your state income tax dollars go without costing you anything!

YOUR STATE TAX DOLLARS CAN GO DIRECTLY TO SCHOOLS WITH A DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR TAX CREDIT. On Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 10:00 AM the Montana.gov portal for education donations will start accepting registrations for pre- approvals of "Tax Credits for Qualified Education Contributions." As many of you may recall, this portal (EducationDonations.mt.gov) opens each year in January, allowing individuals or businesses to make donations directly to schools with a dollar-for-dollar tax credit receipt. Additional information may be found within the Tax Credits for Qualified Education Contributions Guide from the Montana Department of Revenue website. https://revenuefiles.mt.gov/files/Forms/Tax-Credits-for-Qualified-Education-Contributions.pdf

The state limits the overall donations so the portal does close quickly. Please contact the Three Forks Business Office for further information @ 406-285-3224, Ext 125

We added a girls C squad game vs. Manhattan tomorrow (Tuesday) at 4:00 PM in the old gym. Boulder does not have a girls C team, so the girls would not have had a game until after Christmas break. This gives them an opportunity to play a game before the break. Thanks.

Due to the roads shields valley pushed their bus departure time back to 9:30. They were supposed to play our C Boys at 10:45. I am hoping we can still play 3 quarters or at least a half. Coach miller said that they will practice until the other team shows up. Still a chance to improve and hopefully get some game time in as well. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Congratulations to Three Forks FFA member, Griffin Jensen, on his first farrowing experience with his personal guilt!!! Some cute babies are being born this morning!

Since FFA is intercurricular, FFA/Agriculture students are encouraged to develop a Supervised Ag. Experience (SAE) to expand their knowledge of agriculture outside of the classroom. Griffin Jensens is Pig Breeding!

The SAE is a required component of a comprehensive agricultural education program and is intended for all students. Through their involvement in the SAE program, students can explore multiple careers and occupations, learn expected workplace behaviors, develop specific skills within an industry, and gain opportunities to apply both academic and occupational skills in a workplace or simulated environment. Through these strategies, students learn how to apply what they are learning in the classroom as they prepare to transition into the world of college and career opportunities.

Great job, Griffin!!!
